Crossing the Border
Here are some tips/details you might need if you'll be coming to Canada in August and are not familiar with border crossing requirements.
Crossing by automobile requires two pieces of identification for every person in the vehicle. Acceptable forms of ID are: original birth certificates with raised seal, drivers license, state identification card, or passport. If a minor child is riding in a car with anyone other than his/her parents or guardian the adult must be carrying a letter of authorization for the child, stating who/what/where/how long/contact number/etc.
The vehicle paperwork, such as registration, insurance, rental forms, etc. must be current and in the vehicle. Anticipate that the auto can be searched, any packages can be opened, gifts unwrapped, no weapons, and no criminal backgrounds will be let through unless pre-authorized.
